Holly has sung almost all her life, with her first public performance at the age of eleven in a school play. She enrolled in CNC music and vocal tuition in 2001, and has performed in a variety of shows since. But as simple facts none of these prepare the listener for the incredible sound and quality of her voice, which is simply awe inspiring. Holly was clearly born with a gift, but more, that she is using her gift to help someone in such desperate need demonstrates that the beauty of her voice is also within.
We are proud to present Holly's wonderful songs below:
Recorded in Australia in 2009, When You Tried To Tell The World was written by Al Wilson, her father. Sometimes words can become cliches, because they are used too often and too lightly. But this song really does have the power to move the listener. The lyrics, the melody, the voice: all from a place deep within, all from the heart. Absolutely stunning.
WHEN YOU TRIED TO TELL THE WORLD
LYRICS: WHEN YOU TRIED TO TELL THE WORLD
When you tried to tell the world what went on,
and those that reached the mass, tied to your leg a stone
I've seen your head above the mud, you're not alone.
I've seen you doing all you can to get back home
And I know that fairy tales ain't true,
But I will wish on stars for you,
May justice come for ever true, and may you walk free,
But as a door swings open, another slams closed,
Behind the others, lord only knows
In the break of dawn hour, there are things I see clear,
Invisible visions, that ears can't hear
Still in it all, it makes sense to me, that courtroom of shamble and shame
But as fingers get pointed, there's no-one to blame,
For they hide in the darkness, down shadowy lane
When you tried to tell the world what went on,
and those that reached the mass, tied to your leg a stone
I've seen your head above the mud, you're not alone.
I've seen you doing all you can to get back home
SEAWEED MONSTERS
This beautiful song is a reflection of emotional impact upon Schapelle as a result of the injustice. It searches for a peace with which to come to terms with the terrible pain.
SEAWEED MONSTERS
SEAWEED MONSTERS
Seaweed monsters of my mind, they clam me in,
I sit alone in the dark, like a lonely pearl,
there's a swish and a swirl,
that's why there's a cold cold wind.
(harmony) Chorus 1 : hoo-oo hoo-oo hoo-oo hoo-oo
Beware of troubled thoughts, as memory ships sale by,
give no care to opinions,
it could be they're delusions.
I sat upon a sandy shore and watched the sun,
I danced upon a deserted beach and Ive,Ive had some fun.
life there are memories, that I guess will never stray,
that's why there's a cold cold wind.
(Harmony) Chorus 2 : hoo-oo hoo-oo hoo-oo hoo-oo
That's why there's a cold cold wind,
that's why there's a cold cold wind,
that's why there's a cold cold wind.
